 When they threw away WP smoked water, about half of the respondents (52.2%) reported an odor (e.g. burnt tobacco smell or taste of WPT) and 42.6% usually saw sediment (e.g. tobacco or particles/flakes/ash). Condensed smoke and falling ash from the same cigarette were collected and analyzed. Volunteers were asked to smoke 5 sticks of each brand from the same cigarette pack from which the tobacco samples were used.  With the permission of the WPT smoker, the burnt coal ash was cooled in the study water bucket and thrown into the participants' kitchen sink along with WP smoked water, after which the sink was cleaned with running water. Burning the coal heats the WPT, which produces smoke that the user inhales through the snorkel.
